3 March- First Day of Internship at the Art Gallery of New South Wales

I started my internship at the Art Gallery of New South Wales on Wednesday 3 March, 2010.
The day I come in Edmund Capon, director of the Art Gallery of New South Wales is interviewed by Qantas in-flight program in the space where the Archibald exhibition will be held. There are a few Archibald entries out- the larger pieces, as the Packing Room staff consistently work on keeping the space in order. I am present at the interview with Claire Martin, Media Relations Manager just incase Edmund Capon or the journalist interviewing him need anything.
I am thinking- Wow! (Cheesy but true.)

The decision is up to the Art Gallery of New South Wales Trustees to decide on the Archibald winner and there are still many more entries to be delivered. The finalists will be chosen during the weekend on 6 or 7 March.

During the internship I worked mostly with the Media Relations Managers Susanne Briggs and Claire Martin. In her talk to the Marketing class at COFA last year, Susanne Briggs talked about the Bill Henson case and how it had to be dealt with. The Art Gallery of New South Wales was a protective layer between the artist and the public as calls of complaint kept coming into the Media Relations Office for quite some time.
